In 2004, the activities of the International Design Forum Ulm came under the heading »blur«. There was a public and a closed meeting:
The public event was a lecture by Zurich architect and designer Professor Hannes Wettstein on Thursday, 16 September 2004, 20 h, at the Stadthaus Ulm. Interested members of the public were cordially invited. Entry was free of charge.
The closed meeting was a seminar to which the IFG advisory board had invited international experts from the world of architecture, design and the arts. It was held on Friday, 17 September 2004 in the building of the former School of Design. 30 participants in small discussion groups focused among other things on which aspects of their discipline were likely to be important in the coming five to ten years. Unlike in previous years, this was not a conference at which a specific topic was examined in full breadth and depth. In the discussions, the advisory board was more concerned to gain insights that would contribute towards the development of a new programme for the IFG for the years ahead.
